We arrived in Johannesburg South Africa in time to attend and participate in the Foursquare Southern Africa Regional Council meeting with the national directors from the ten nations in the region. The conference was hosted by Glen Mickel, Southern Africa Regional Coordinator and led by Festus Negumbe of Namibia, the Council Chairman. It was good to hear the ministry reports from the nations in the region and to meet the FMI missionaries who are serving in the region as well. A very intense schedule and lots to learn and process.
We then went on to Malawi where we taught at Blantyre Bible Training Centre and met many of the pastors in the area. We investigated several models of orphan care in the area. On Friday, we ministered at a pastors’ meeting at which 20 pastors were expected to attend. 80 pastors were present and were passionately hungry for the leadership insights we taught them.
We also spent a few days in Botswana, where we met with missionaries Tyler and Lizzy Jorgensen and Glen Mickel to discuss the development of a Foursquare Missions WorldBase. We spent an evening with Stephen Hacker, director of Performance Centers, and met some Christian lay people who serve in the Botswana Government.
